Body Found At Side Of Road In Peak District

The discovered male body was made near the village of Eyam

An investigation is underway after the body of a man was found at the side of a road in the Derbyshire Peak District.

Officers from Derbyshire police were called to the Great Hucklow area of the county, near Eyam, on Thursday 16th September, after reports a body had been found from the public.

The discovery happened at around 10am at the side of the main road running through Abney.

Police closed the road for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident and investigated the scene.

The force says it is not treating the man's death as suspicious, but enquiries are continuing and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: "We are carrying out enquiries after the body of a man was found at Great Hucklow.

"At around 10am yesterday (Thursday 16th September) we received a call from a member of the public who had noticed a body at the roadside at Abney.

"The road was closed yesterday while investigations were carried out at the scene. Enquiries are continuing and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

"At this time, we are not treating the man’s death as suspicious."
